Double Portion??

And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Eliyah said unto Elisha, ask what I shall do for you, before I be taken away from you. And Elisha said, I pray you, let a double portion of your Ha'ruach be upon me. And he said you have asked a hard thing; if you see me taken from you it shall be so unto you; but if not it shall be so. ( 2 Melakim 2:9-10 )

One of the things we are seeing take place in lives today is a Divine rendering of truth in the Kadosh scriptures of YAH. It's truly a wonderful time. Blindfolds are being removed, ears unplugged and hearts are being changed as the B'nei Elohiym (sons of G_d) is being prepared to glory in their Avinu Yahuwah AdonaiYah.

As we have been blessed to present,, a repentance first must take place. And with that said we now present once again how important it is in our studies to view things from the perspective of the authors and not lean to our own understanding, that may produce the wrong fruit. Even Theology understands this and teaches many areas of whats titled as Practical Criticism. We give the Almighty Avinu glory in that, this has been happening for so long that it should be the norm of the day, but He always has a plan to restore freedom , truth and love back to His children.

The above scripture renders a situation we have heard taught and preached many times over. Many with ministerial titles claim this kind of event in multitudes as an approval of their chosen calling and profession. Though that is not the total case and we do not deny or reject any act of the Ha'Ruach upon man, Elohiym forbid. But instead we know the Kavod (Holy) Scriptures tell us,,,,Wisdom is a principal thing; get wisdom; and with all your getting, get understanding. ( Misley 4:7 )

So together lets look at what exactly is happening here and what it is the prophet Elisha is requesting. We have all been taught this is about a Double Portion anointing that has come from EliYahs mantel.

But is that really the event taking place???

If there is a such a thing as a double portion and who exactly qualifies for it??

How do we ask for something that has been so misinterpreted and misconstrude that we don't even understand the vast responsibility of whats being requested?? Yehoshua said,,,, If I told you earthly things, and you believe not, how shall you believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? ( Yochanan/John 3:12 )1.

What Exactly is Elisha asking for??? Our rendition of this verse seems to ask for a double portion of the Spirit that is on EliYah. This is not that far fetched for we see in various circumstances where a tranference of YAH's Ha'Ruach is passed from one to another.

And I ( Yahuwah Elohe ) will come down and talk with you (Moshe) there: and I will take of the ha'ruach that is upon you, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, that you bear it not yourself alone. ( Bemidbar/Numbers 11:17 )

Theres more and as you'll see we will get to that shortly. The, Tanakh, Septuagint and many other translations render this request this way,,,," I pray you let the portion that is of the first born, of your spirit be upon me." This is where by lack of proper context things can be misconstrude. This double portions is not just an ordinary anointing from just any elder and any student, but one that was ordained by YAH Himself and meant to be between a father and his firstborn son. This neither is a new concept, but an ordinance created by the Almighty Elohiym concerning the first born. Elisha very well knew whom it was that layed hands on Eliyah. This is really where we see YAH Elohe being presented as a Father that gives gifts of inheritance.

All things start and finish with YAH, if we hear an ordinance and cannot trace it back to Him, then more than likely it's a man made ordinance.

And the AdoniYah spake unto Moshe, saying, set apart unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Yisra'el, of man and of beast is mine. All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among your cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male. ( Shemot/Exodus 34:19 )

Only the firstlings of the beasts, which should be the AdonaiYah's firstlings, no man shall sanctify it, whether it be ox or sheep; it is the AdonaiYah's. ( Vayiqra/Leviticus 27:26 )

Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Mizraim I hallowed unto me all the firstborn of Yisra'el both man and beast; mine shall they be, I am AdonaiYah. ( Bemidbar/Numbers 3:13 )

If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers which is hated; Then it shall be, when he make his sons to inherit that which he has, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn; But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he has; for he is the beginning of his strength the right of the firstborn is his. ( Devarim/Deuteronomy 21:15-17)

Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and our flocks, to bring to the house of our Elohe, unto the priest that minister in the house of our Elohe. ( Nehemiyah 10:36 )

Did you notice to whom the double portion inheritance was granted to??

The confusion is in how exactly this all starts, so lets go there together see and then we can return to the Law of the Firstborn,,,,And Adoniyah said unto him (Eliyah), Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus; and when you are there, anoint Haza'el to be king over Syria; and Jehu the son of Nimshi shall you anoint to be king over Yisra'el; and Elisha the son of Shapaht of Abel- Meholah shall you anoint to be prophet in your room.......So he departed and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelth; and Eliyah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. ( 2 Melakim 19:15-16, 19 )

The mantle in its proper perspective represents exactly what it was made for a "covering". This was the instructors tool, a way of showing responsibility for the student. The mantle in itself held no particular power, and keep in mind that it is a man made covering, this is why it is always rented as a sign of humility before YAH (Ezra 9:3, Job 1:20) but it's use as in the calling of Eliyah and Elisha is told foreshadowing an opportunity of ministorial service yet to this day. However the responsibilty of the Teacher has been diminished. With that said for now back to our topic at hand,,,,

The right of the first born is only a part of what Elisha was asking. Before all of this was spoken into the Law, we can actually see these events in action in the natural with the father of many nations and Thee Father Yahuwah in a very well known story. No need therefore to retell it all, lets then just go to the meat of what we are studying,,,,,The Beginning of the Brakah - The Offering of Yitzak

"And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing; and I will bless them that bless you and curse him that curse you; and in you shall all the families of the earth be blessed. " (Br'sheet/Genesis 12:3)

After this the Patriarch fathers all follow this ordinance. In chapter 22 of this book we see the pattern of what is to come profoundly and divinely kept by Avraham as he offers up he and Sarah's first born to YAH on Mt. Moriyah. Also again in the story of the Birthright of Yacov, we again see this play out in a very familiar tone.

" Therefore Elohiym give you of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine; Let people serve you, and nations bow down to you; be master over your brethren, and let your mothers sons bow down to you; cursed be everyone that curse you, and blessed be he that blesses you." ( Br'sheet/Genesis 27:28-29 )

How important was this blessing? It could not be taken back or renigued of. This is why after Esau finally does get to Yitzak he says to his son Esau,,,,Behold I have made him your master and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him; and what shall I do now unto you my son? And Esau said unto his father, have you but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice and wept. ( Br'sheet/Genesis 27:37-38 )

I know you just asked how is it that Esau is the firstborn and he doesn't get the brahkah (laying on of hands)? YAH will always have the last say of any blessing, did he not know that Esau's birthright didn't mean anything to him, see it was never really taken,,,,remember the story?? It was sold out rightly to Yacov for some bread and a bowl of lentils to nourish his flesh, the brahkah covers alot richer area than just the fleshly possessions. This was foretold to their mother Rifkah/Rebecca before they even exited the matrix ( Br'sheet/Genesis 25:23 )

Now the end of days has come yet for just one more, and his son Yosephs sons are brought to him so before we get to the wrap up of this vital ordinance lets see how our last Patriarch handles this,,,And Yisra'el stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon (brahkah) Efrayim's head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh's head, guiding his hands whittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn. ( Br'sheet 48:14 )

Yes we could beloved take a journey all over the place with this, we encourage you of course to peruse the whole chapter there is alot of meat here, but for right now we are sticking with the topic at hand. This is the way that the Brahkah is made a permanent order of blessing and transference, which we now know in our language as the "laying on of hands" It was and still yet is believed that all the way from YAH Elohe, Avraham, Yitzak, Yacov and there descendants passed this special blessing by the laying on of hands to this day, this also includes Yehoshua Ha'Maschiach and the Disciples. So much more than our concept just of a Double protion inheritance. It's the passing of every inheritance received of the Almighty unto the descendants as He spoke to them, and indwelt them, it represents a passing of authority, leadership and Spirit and is honored in just about every ordination service to this day though most don't even ever try to enjoy the fruit of it's incredible history.

Do we even know then that in their mockery of Ha'Maschiach the chief priest and elders of the temple in Yerusalam many many years later would question the very Brahkah of Yehoshua when they ask of Him,,,,,And when he was come into the temple, the chief priest and elders of the people came unto him as he was teaching, and said, By what authority (laying on of hands) do you do these things? And who gave you this authority? ( Mattiyahu 21:23 )

Sadly not willing to acknowledge that Yehoshua Himself was the very one that set the whole foundation for this Brahkah by His Father??? Finally I know you must have seen how we hear Elisha's request that had such respect for EliYah that he saw him and honored him as a father, that would pass this Brahkah unto his son. Always in his walk giving all glory to his YAH Elohiym, Eliyah leaves the decision of this action to the Giver of all good gifts and says, " If you see me taken from you " meaning that if YAH allows you such a vision of Divinity as this then you beloved Elisha have found favour in His eyes, for He is your Father. And if not then the request cannot be answered. We know the story, YAH does will it, dear Elisha is not even sure exactly what authority of strength he has asked for as he inherits the blessing of the first born of EliYah in Spirit and truth and power. Look at his response,,,,And Elisha saw it, and he cried,,,my father, my father, the Chariot of Yisra'el, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more ; and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. (vs.12) Then we see this mantle of EliYah come into play in the story, and it is used as a sign unto Elisha, vs. 13 he is now holding all the garments together as one , his and Eliyah's and went right to the place where Eliyah wrought his last miracle before Elohiym. As he saw his successor do, he too smites the waters of the Yardan/Jordan with the mantle and said,,, Where is the Adonaiyah Elohe of Eliyah? For his request meant it would manifest by the power thereof and the Yardan parts for him also. Elisha is assured that the Almighty YAH has answered his request. This is not strange for all of the Patriarchs before him and after were assured the same way. To this day we know that out of atleast the 150 something prophecies of the Ha'Maschiach the manifested miracles surely should have told these chief priest and elders whom it was that was before them,,,,, even he said to them,,,,,If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though you believe not me, believe the works; that you may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in Him. ( Yochanan/John 10:37-38

)Adonaiyah Yehoshua didn't just create this system of passing authority to His disciples (Luke 9:1 ), He is the Living Brahkah Himself.

And they were amazed, in that they questioned among themselves, saying, what is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commands He even the unclean spirits, and they do obey Him. ( Mark 1:27 )

For as the Father hath life in Himself; so has He given to the Son to have life in Himself; and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of Adam. ( Yochanan/John 5:26-27

)Does it stop there? Absolutely not! All this was told as a shadow of the authority of YAH, that would be granted to all His children, yes all that He has granted the ability to cry out ABBA Father (Romans 8:15) We admonish you to continue reading about the true inheritance of fathership that was passed down to Elisha by the laying on of hands by the Very Ha'Ruach Kadosh of Elohiym through Eliyah, not through a mere mantle made with mans hands but Thee Divine hand of YAH Himself.. Our hope is that you see this action with a whole new glorious insight, that will glorify Our Father in Heaven. Look as Ha' Maschiach lays hands on His own disciples and sends them out to manifest His authority before all men and share the Besurah/Gospel of the Kingdom of YAH. Behold Kefa, Yochanan and Shaul on their missionary journeys lay hands on the sick, and those that are seeking YAH with their whole hearts, passing on the inheritance of the gift of the power of the Ha'Ruach. Know that the reason for the term Double portion in our english really means that it's passed from our Father, the Ha'Maschiach and all the Patriarchs. This is what we simplify and call the anointing. For these beloved ones shall be called the B'nei Elohe! For as many as are led by the Ruach Ha'Kadosh of YAH, they are the B'nei Elohiym.(Romans 8:14)

Shalom Aleichem (Peace Be Unto You)
